I’m writing this post in celebration of Justin and Courtney’s first anniversary! A romantic garden party was the inspiration for their Whitehall Estate wedding in the beautiful foothills of Bluemont, Virginia.

I first met Courtney at Martha & John’s Virginia Eastern Shore wedding, when she was a bridesmaid. It’s so fun to find connections like that because we end up getting to see the same group of close friends at several weddings. It makes my heart so happy to not just have satisfied clients, but to also be able to develop ongoing friendships with them!

Courtney and Justin were able to have a private ceremony in the Catholic faith tradition a few weeks before their garden party surrounded by many friends and family members. What a great way to be able to experience two different kinds of wedding traditions together.

The wisteria and navy color palette perfectly embodied the garden concept, which carried through with many lovely florals both outdoors for the ceremony and indoors for the reception, including sunflowers down the center table.

There were so many details to love from their wedding! Their sweet dog, Oakley, was the ring bearer and did such a great job, I was impressed! He also posed for some pretty adorable family portraits. Whitehall Estate is full of these lovely old trees and from one of those hangs a bench swing. So, obviously we had to take some portraits using the swing. But my favorite details had to do with the happy couple loving to travel. Courtney and Justin are adventurers and they showcased that in a unique way. Their guest book was a globe for everyone to sign and the table centerpieces had names of places they’ve traveled, both of which I love. They were able to take something that’s part of who they are both individually and as a couple and incorporate it into their celebration. I hope this first year of marriage has been filled with grand adventures for them! Cheers!
